Why "The Start of Noticing"?
I’ve been coaching for a while, and as a coach, most simply, I help other people notice things. When we create an intentional pause from all the requests, pings, and deadlines—and just notice, that’s when the magic happens. Yet, in reality, people’s plates are so full, that space to notice is the last thing they feel they have time for.
Noticing helps us lead and live intentionally. It’s often the first step to meaningful change, and it’s the foundation of this newsletter.
This isn’t a new or original idea, but it’s a powerful one. I started noticing how hard it is to explain what I do as a coach—so this newsletter is my way to share what coaching is all about, and why it matters.
What I’ve Been Noticing
We’re all doing the best we can. While each person’s 100% may look different, I believe that if we create even a little space to notice what’s happening—around us and within us—we unlock the potential to grow, connect, and lead more effectively.
This isn’t about being perfect; it’s about being curious. I hope this newsletter inspires you to pause, reflect, and take small steps toward noticing more in your life and leadership.
Because when you start noticing, magic happens.
An Invitation to Start Noticing
I’d love for you to try a small experiment:
At work: Pay attention to one small behavior—yours or someone else’s. Maybe it’s how you respond to a question or how a team member lights up during a conversation. Ask yourself: What might this mean?
For yourself: Reflect for 5 minutes at the end of the day: What’s one thing I noticed about my energy, mood, or reactions today?
Write it down. No judgment, no fixing—just noticing.
Who Am I?
I’m an Organizational Consultant and Executive Coach. I launched my business, Mindful People Solutions, in 2021 to support leaders and individuals in creating workplaces that foster well-being and drive results. I’ve coached over 130 leaders and individual contributors across sectors in strategic planning, career development, onboarding, well-being, and leading others.
Before founding my company, I worked for a global retail organization. Watching it grow from a Canadian-based company making its footprint on the East Coast to a global brand inspired my love for people development. I assumed every company prioritized their employees the same way. Over time, I realized that this kind of intentionality is rare—and deeply needed. I believe noticing is the start of that intentionality.
What You Can Expect Here
This newsletter is a space where I’ll share resources, reflections, and insights to help leaders and individuals who care about creating more thoughtful, people-first environments. My hope is to support you in noticing—with kindness, curiosity, and intention.

P.S. If this resonates, please share it with someone who might enjoy it. I’d love to hear from you: What’s one thing you’ve noticed about your leadership this month? Reply and let me know!
At least from my experience in the corporate environment, I do not think we can ever remind ourselves too many times to pause and approach ourselves with curiosity rather than judgement. While seemingly simple, it is so powerful - and yet can feel like the antithesis of the tide in this world. Thanks Jess for reminding us that small moments of awareness can have a tremendous impact in how we lead and connect!
Love this - thanks Jess! Also, was just talking about that book yesterday with a coworker and am planning to read it soon.
